Frequently Asked Questions

How do I view a video in full screen?

Press F11 to enable full screen mode in your web browser. To disable full screen mode, press F11.

How can I get a complete alphabetical listing of all video titles?

When you first click on COAC Video Library, the default for each search parameter is ALL so leave them as such and simply click on Search and the complete list will appear in alphabetical order.

How come when I enter a word or phrase in the search line, the list that comes up is not alphabetical?

The list that is generated when you use the search by key word function is organized by frequency. The video title that contains the most hits for those key words will appear first and the video title with the fewest matches will come last.

If I want to find all the videos with pieces of Aboriginal content, what is the best way to do this?

The word Aboriginal is not a subject area, it is a key word or topic. Enter the word Aboriginal and First Nation into the key word search field and all video titles that have those words in their descriptions will be listed.

Why can't I access the videos from my school?

Start by contacting your school or jurisdictional technical consultants. If there is a problem with the Content Delivery Device (CDD) in your school that holds the video content, your technical consultant will then contact the appropriate Alberta Education consultant responsible for the CDDs.

Why won't my video play?

At present videos are played via QuickTime, a free mediia player.  Visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download to download QuickTime. You may need your school or jurisdictional technicians to install this program for you.

Why can’t I find the video I want?

This web site only contains the licensed video programs funded by COAC. Videos that have been provincially authorized by Alberta Education are not included in this site. They are available at http://www.learnalberta.ca. When you go to that site you can search for videos by entering the title, key words, or looking by grade level or subject area.
